Respect and equality

Programmes in Doorway to Life provide service users with the opportunity to acquire valued roles and a valued place amongst a network of people. Programmes will strive to empower service users to attain an equal footing in the community. No individual will be excluded from programmes at Doorway to Life on the grounds of gender, marital status, family status, race, age, religious belief, sexual orientation, disability or membership of the Travelling Community.

Participation and Partnership

Doorway to Life aims to ensure each persons aims and objectives are not sidelined at any stage during their participation on the programmes and that services are user driven. In order to ensure this programmes are designed to be flexible and a Personal Learning Plan is developed in partnership with each trainee on the Independent Living Programme. Learning plans are evaluated and updated through regular reviews. Disability awareness training, work experience, training courses and social activities provide opportunities for meaningful social interaction and community inclusion. Doorway to Life also values partnerships with other service providers in Cork including the MS Society, NCBI, Cluid Housing Association, Mahon Family Resource Centre and St. Laurences Cheshire Home.
